Everest Base Camp Trek 16 Days – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, relax and explore the vibrant streets of Thamel if time permits. In the evening, meet your guide for a short briefing about the Everest Base Camp Trek and final preparations.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Today, enjoy an optional sightseeing tour of Kathmandu's cultural highlights, including Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, or Kathmandu Durbar Square. You can also use the day to check your trekking equipment and make any last-minute preparations for the journey.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,610m) – 3 Hours

Early morning, take a scenic flight toward Lukla (2,860m), enjoying spectacular views of the Himalayan range. After landing, meet your trekking team and begin walking through beautiful villages and forests alongside the Dudh Koshi River. Continue toward Phakding, where you can relax and enjoy your first evening in the Everest region.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) – 6 Hours

Continue along the Dudh Koshi River through pine forests, Sherpa villages, and several suspension bridges. Enter Sagarmatha National Park and gradually climb toward Namche Bazaar. The final section is a challenging uphill walk, rewarded with beautiful Himalayan scenery and the lively atmosphere of Namche.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Spend an important acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Take a short hike toward the Everest View Hotel for spectacular views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other Himalayan peaks. You can also explore the local market, Sherpa culture, and Sagarmatha National Park Museum before returning to Namche.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m) – 5 Hours

Follow a scenic trail above the Dudh Koshi Valley with excellent views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Descend toward Phungi Tenga and then climb through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests to Tengboche. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery and enjoy its peaceful mountain surroundings.

Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410m) – 6 Hours

Descend through the forest and cross the Imja River before continuing toward Pangboche. The magnificent Ama Dablam dominates the landscape throughout the day. Continue gradually upward through the Imja Valley until reaching Dingboche, a beautiful mountain village surrounded by spectacular peaks.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche (4,410m)

Take another important acclimatization day before heading toward the higher elevations. Enjoy a gradual hike around Dingboche, with the option to climb toward Nangkartshang Peak for panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu, Island Peak, and surrounding mountains. Return to Dingboche for rest and preparation.

Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940m) – 5 Hours

Leave Dingboche and follow the trail toward Thukla, where you will see memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives in the Everest region. Continue climbing toward Lobuche through an increasingly rugged alpine landscape. Enjoy views of Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Day 10: Lobuche to Everest Base Camp and Gorak Shep (5,164m) – 8 Hours

Today is the main highlight of your adventure. Walk from Lobuche to Gorak Shep through rugged moraine terrain before continuing toward Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Enjoy spectacular views of the Khumbu Glacier, Khumbu Icefall, Nuptse, and surrounding peaks. After spending time at Base Camp, return to Gorak Shep for the night.

Day 11: Kala Patthar and Trek to Pheriche (4,370m) – 8 Hours

Start early for the challenging hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m), one of the best viewpoints for Mount Everest. Enjoy breathtaking sunrise views over Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and other Himalayan peaks. Descend to Gorak Shep and continue through the Khumbu Valley toward Pheriche.

Day 12: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) – 8 Hours

Continue your descent through beautiful Sherpa villages and forests. Pass through Pangboche and Tengboche, enjoying magnificent views of Ama Dablam and the surrounding mountains. Cross the Dudh Koshi River and continue toward Namche Bazaar for a relaxing evening.

Day 13: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860m) – 8 Hours

Your final trekking day begins with a descent from Namche Bazaar. Follow the Dudh Koshi River through Jorsalle, Monjo, Phakding, and other traditional villages. Cross several suspension bridges and enjoy the changing landscape as you approach Lukla. Celebrate the successful completion of your Everest Base Camp adventure with your trekking team.

Day 14: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400m)

After breakfast, walk to Lukla Airport and take a scenic flight back toward Kathmandu. Depending on seasonal flight operations, flights may operate via Ramechhap. After arriving in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing afternoon after your Himalayan adventure.

Day 15: Free Day in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Enjoy a relaxing and flexible day in Kathmandu. You can explore Thamel, shop for souvenirs, visit cultural attractions, or simply rest at your hotel. This day also provides a useful buffer in case of unexpected flight delays from Lukla.

Day 16: Departure from Kathmandu (1,400m)

Your Everest Base Camp adventure comes to an end today. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy some free time in Kathmandu before our representative transfers you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your international departure.
